Two Opportunities Small Businesses Should Know About Right Now

There are excellent regional resources available right now for entrepreneurs in Beaumont and the Pass Area.

Below are two timely opportunities worth exploring if you’re starting, growing, or strengthening your business.

Resource #1: Veteran Entrepreneur Business Start Program (No-Cost Training)

If you’re a military veteran thinking about launching a business, this six-week training program is designed specifically for you.

Hosted by the Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (OCIE SBDC), this program walks veteran entrepreneurs step-by-step through the fundamentals of starting and running a business. The curriculum covers everything from business planning and financial literacy to marketing, licensing, and contracting opportunities for veterans.

Participants will learn about:

  • Business feasibility and choosing a structure

  • Writing and refining a business plan

  • Identifying target markets and conducting SWOT analysis

  • Accessing capital and understanding financial statements

  • Digital marketing, SEO, and social media strategy

  • Legal considerations and veteran contracting programs

This is an outstanding entry point for veterans who want structured guidance, expert instruction, and a supportive cohort of fellow entrepreneurs — all at no cost.

Resource #2: Genesis For Good Catalyst Empowerment Grant (Up to $10,000)

The Genesis For Good Catalyst Empowerment Grant Program provides grants of up to $10,000 to help small businesses accelerate growth and create jobs.

Who is eligible?

Businesses may qualify if they:

  • Operate in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, or San Bernardino County

  • Have been in business at least one year

  • Have 10 or fewer employees

  • Generate $500,000 or less in annual revenue

  • Operate in a low-to-moderate income area (as defined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development)

Applicants must submit a short (three-minute maximum) video explaining their business and how the grant would support growth. The video can be a simple cell phone video; it does not need to be professionally produced.
